Research Interests

My research focuses on personality assessment. Over the past two decades, I have devoted time to the development and validation of the Cross-cultural (Chinese) Personality Assessment Inventory (CPAI). Apart from establishing its psychometric properties, my group directs efforts at providing evidence concerning its utility, which can be diversified. Merely importing Western measures to Asian cultures is insufficient, even when proper translation and adaption are adopted. The program of studies on CPAI and its various versions verifies the relevance of indigenously derived personality dimensions in different cultural contexts and strengthens the cultural perspectives in mainstream psychology.
